This was another one of my ideas when my editor asked for more personal pieces to connect with our audience during lockdown.
I wrote it mostly out of hours as my very last story for Somerset Live because it felt very self-indulgent to write.
But I knew it would connect with other crazy dog people – and rural Somerset has a great many.
It also had the benefit of some pretty ridiculous pictures, and the simple format and tongue-in-cheek approach worked out well.
I think it's good to be able to laugh at yourself, as well as write seriously.
