'Why I haven't shaved since lockdown... and it isn't because I can't buy a razor'

My editor encouraged submissions about lockdown life to engage with readers on a more personal level and this was one of my offerings.

With a headline and picture that was bound to attract attention, the story was about much more than shock factor.

The tongue-in-cheek 'bare all' confession led to a positive message about celebrating what you have achieved during these difficult times and letting go of the shame of what you haven't.

It was a joy to write, and a piece I'm proud of, knowing that despite the inevitable trolls it's something many women could relate to.

The story had more than 5,000 views on Somerset Live and nearly 17,000 when it was used on the Daily Mirror.
